Building Better in the Hudson Valley
Building a new home is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, and the more you understand before you break ground, the better the result. This is where the P.A.S. Design Build team shares what we’ve learned from years of designing and building homes across Ulster County and the Hudson Valley. You’ll find practical guidance on custom home planning, semi-custom homes, high-performance and net-zero construction, site planning and permitting, realistic budgeting, and how the design-build process works from first sketch to move-in.
Our goal is simple: help you make clear, confident decisions about a home built for this land, this climate, and the way you want to live.
The Right Order for a Whole-House Energy Upgrade
On almost any older house we’d start by getting it tested, then seal the air leaks, insulate and deal with whatever water problems turn up, replace only the windows that have actually failed, add fresh-air ventilation, size the heat pump to the improved house, and leave solar for last, and the reason for that order is that each step you finish makes the one after it smaller and cheaper.
